On September 14, 2009, I was diagnosed with endometrial cancer, cancer of the uterine lining. After meeting the surgeon, we set a date of October 2, 2009, for a radical hysterectomy. Scary, painful, and devastating! There is a list of tests you must undergo before surgery, and to this list, I added an appointment with my friend and networking partner, Oli Shelkey. During one especially long conversation, we had talked about how she can help those going into surgery to prepare their body for the invasion and pain, and I heartily embraced the idea. So she was the first person I thought of when surgery became imminent. My hypnosis appointment was painless - I felt I had a nice nap - and we also had a nice talk about the coming surgery and how I felt about it. Three days later I had the surgery, and the nurses were amazed at how little pain I was experiencing. The only time I seemed to press the pain button was when I mistook it for the call button! (That's not exactly true, but close!) The anaesthetic was out of my system in two hours and my recovery was "remarkable", according to most of the nurses. The only thing I can attribute that to is Oli's hypnosis session. I never had this kind of experience in other surgeries - in fact, quite the opposite. When I had my gallbladder out several years back, I didn't wake up for three days, and the pain was excruciating. Several people took Oli's card just in case they were ever to go in for surgery, because they wanted to have the same experience that I did. I can't thank her enough, for the great help she was to me at that time, and I will be calling again, for any other problem I might have.

A Life Changing Experience by Elaine Weber

I cut out the ad from the newspaper after months of reading it. I phoned for an appointment. I came searching for a weight loss program that would help me drop the pounds I didn’t seem to have the energy to loose on my own. Six months later, I feel like I have a new body!

I have Fibromyalgia. I came to my first appointment with body aches, dark circles under my eyes, and barely enough energy to sign in. About 20 minutes into the consultation, the hypnotist stopped me and remarked that I might not be feeling well. I explained what a hard day it had been as I suffered with FMS. She continued the conversation by asking me to explain my pain, how long had I had this condition, and what treatment plan was I following. Where had I been diagnosed, and how did I feel the plan and medication was working for me?

I’m only 56 years old. How was I ever going to work another 10 years, when I was not even sure I would be able to finish this calendar year! Every day seemed longer than the day before. There were no good days. Just days that were not as bad as others, but everyday was filled with pain.

I walked into work on Friday morning quietly declaring a miracle. Quietly because I didn’t want to stir the fires of pain that might hear me talking about how pain free I was feeling. I honestly tell you, I have no pain. I have days, weeks and months with no pain. I live in quiet gratitude, constant amazement and the belief that my finding Ardella & Oli was a miracle.

I can tell you I have had two fabulous life altering experiences with hypnotism. I quit smoking after only 1 session. No withdrawals, no cravings, no desire to ever pick up a cigarette since that one session18 Months ago. Now after 6 months of relaxing, effective therapy, I am pain free. I was grateful to the pain clinic I originally received treatment, I was grateful for the Mayo Clinic’s assessment and rework of my pain treatment,, but the pain free life I have received from the hypnotic sessions with Ardella & Oli has been the only program to leave me pain free.
